A Miracle Capsule that Could Save Lives

I can still remember the thrill I felt when it was my first time to ride on a plane. It was a mix of emotions. Happy because finally, a childhood dream has been fulfilled. Excited, since I can, at last meet the clouds up there. And a bit scared as I think of the possibility of a plane crash.

Numerous plane accidents were recorded since the first airplane took off in 1903. A lot of casualties have been noted and people are still trying to find out ways to improve the airline industry, specifically the aircrafts. This innovation could be one of the most advanced, but how feasible could this be? Let’s take a walkthrough.

Vladimir Tatarenko, a Ukrainian engineer and inventor, has introduced an idea of having a capsule that will detach from the main aircraft as it screws up in the air. The video shows how the idea was formulated:

In an interview, Tatarenko said that people’s perception about air disasters is wrong, because 80% of these happen due to human error. He had the thought that, if we cannot control human mistake, we can create a solution by improving the airplane itself. That’s how he came up with the idea. This is a result of a five year thorough research and he is looking for interested investors. A regular airbus is estimated to cost $100 to $350 million. So with this kind of innovation, the cost will really be astounding.

Many from the airline industry are still not convinced with the Tatarenko’s idea. Especially to the point where the capsule literally detaches and safely land on its own. Having no pilot to make sure a safe landing, it is really possible?

One of his YouTube viewers commented, "This whole concept dramatically weakens the airframe because now you have joints and fittings to connect a fuselage and a body together where once you had a whole fuselage to reinforce the airframe."
If ever this will materialize, are you willing to patronize?
