A Dozen of Nature Wonders

The human body is a wonderful creation. Every single cell has its purpose and function. Circumstances happen to find out the reason why a body part is made. Would you believe that keloids are just results of body’s wonder?

As we are being wounded, our body has its own way of healing. Platelet from our bleeding wounds form blood clots to start the healing process. As the stage advances, scars are formed until the wound becomes completely healed. On some situations, scar tissue develops beyond its original thickness, hardness and texture. When this happens, the scar becomes a keloid.

Keloids tend to be more cosmetically alarming than medically. Sometime they feel itchy, but on many occasions, they become a source of exaggerated self-consciousness especially to women.
We’ve got good news; an affordable yet natural and effective way on how keloids can be treated.
Here are a dozen of them:

1. Aloe Vera - It keeps the skin well moisturized and also helps in regenerating the damaged skin. Its cooling effect also reduces itching.
Instructions: Cut open an aloe vera leaf and extract its gel.
Apply a light coating of aloe vera gel on the area. Allow it to dry on its own so that the medicinal properties are fully absorbed by the skin. Apply five or six times daily for several days.

2. Apple Cider Vinegar Certain contents of this vinegar tend to reduce fatty deposits on the skin that form the keloids.
Instructions: Mix two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar and one teaspoon of water in a cup. Use a cotton ball to apply the solution on the affected area. Leave it on for half an hour, and then wash it off with water. Continue this remedy three or four times daily for a couple of weeks.

3. Sandal wood and rose water paste - Sandal wood is famously known for revitalizing dry and inflamed skin. In addition to that, rose water is a natural healing agent.
Instructions: Mix ample amount of rose water to sandal wood to create a paste. Apply this on the affected area before going to bed. Repeat this in 2 months or until you notice a difference.

4. Lemon juice - This is an excellent source of Vitamin C which is a powerful antioxidant. It also helps in skin regeneration and damage repair.
Instructions: Extract the juice from one medium-size fresh lemon. Apply the juice on the scar. Leave it on for about half an hour, and then rinse it off with lukewarm water. Pat dry and then apply some moisturizing lotion to keep the area moisturized. Do it twice daily for a month to get good results.

5. Honey - This is an amazing moisturizer or humectants. It can also aid in good blood circulation which is very important in treating keloids.
Instructions: Apply fresh organic honey liberally on the scars. Gently massage the area for 10 minutes. Leave it on for about an hour and then rinse it off with lukewarm water. Do it twice daily for several weeks to reduce keloid scars. 6. Baking Soda - This will act as a scrubbing agent when applied to the keloid. Instructions: Mix one portion of baking soda with three parts of hydrogen peroxide to create a paste. Apply it on the affected area. Repeat it 2-3 times a day.

7. Garlic - It prevents the production of fibroblast cells which are the culprit of keloid formation.
Instructions: Apply garlic oil or rub a clove on the affected area. Leave in on for 10 minutes then wash.

8. Fuller’s earth - A natural and famous treatment for burns, acne and keloids.
Instructions: Mix it with lemon juice or rose water to make a paste. Massage it on the affected area and let it dry for 10 minutes. Do it regularly until the keloid vanishes.

9. Castor Oil - It will help reducing the appearance of the keloid by softening the fibrous tissue.

10. Kukui nut oil - Rich in Vitamins C, D, E and antioxidants which are skin-protecting agents. It also stimulates collagen production for faster healing.

11. Cocoa-Shea butter cream - High in Vitamin E, antioxidants and Omega-3 fatty acids which are vital for skin health.
Instructions: Melt cocoa and shea butter 2 teaspoons each then add a teaspoon of Vitamin E oil. Put the mixture in a container. It will solidify once chilled but will eventually melt when applied to the skin. Use this twice a day.

12. Rose hip seed oil - This is widely known as rich in retinoic acid, Vitamin A and famous for rejuvenating effects. It also prevents hyper-pigmentation on the area affected and increase collagen production.
Instructions: Massage this on the affected area at least twice a day until the keloid disappears.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. While this idea is true, being beautiful is also a responsibility. We have a personal duty to make ourselves presentable in all its essence.
